Race report
We worked our butt's off on both cars leading up to this event with multiple late 1am nights.
It was a struggle to get the 4400 car together after receiving the engine back only a day and a half before leaving.

Wednesday morning off we went. First stop in Hesperia for some engine tuning at FTA_INC. By the time it was all done things looked promising as we continued north to Folsom now a half a day behind schedule.

We arrived at the track early Friday morning. Unloaded both cars and got them warmed up.
We changed the oil in the 4400 after break in and dyno.

Practice for myself(Todd) in the 4500 car went good for me. It was another chance to adapt to the car and kind of throw it around and see how it feels as this was only my second race in it and completely different then KOH. I placed 3rd in qualifying
Practice for Kenneth didn't go so well as 2 laps in and the car quit moving. The torque converter failed and he didn't get to qualify.

We were able to get someone to bring us another torque converter from Phoenix.
We installed the torque converter Saturday morning before the heat race and the 4400 car was back moving.

The 4500 heat race went pretty good for me. I got pinched off going into the first rock section and dropped back to 5th. From there I worked my way back to finish 2nd.
The 4400 heat race started off with a bang "a good one" for Kenneth. He very quickly went from 6th to 3rd in half a lap. Then almost just as quickly came to a frustrating end as the engine started smoking badly and making noise. That was it 1 lap completed.

The 4500 main went great! Starting 2nd, I had a plan to push as hard as I could off the start and try and get the lead exiting the first rock section. As it went I got a great jump on the outside of the first place car and was able to close him off entering the rocks. From there I controlled the lead. Not knowing that the very fast car of Dan Wyrick had crashed after the second rock section giving me a bit of a gap. I somewhat cruised for a couple laps. Unfortunately that a allowed another fast car of John Matthews to reel me in and pass me. "I think I actually needed that". I quickly remounted a charge and passed him back in the second rock section. Then it was on! John was on my bumper like stink on ___! We layed down a couple fast laps and it forced me to really find my groove and I put together the two fastest laps of the race back to back and pulled away from there. #1 Baby!

What a week! I can't quite believe I won a race being only my second try driving. I'm so grateful for the opportunity! However it doesn't quite take the sting out of the 4400 car failure. That car is amazing when it works and the small team of us put everything into it!

Hope to see you all in Moab.

Thank you to those who support us!
