Why do teeth loosen?
04/09/2026
When you’re a kid, loose teeth are just a part of having baby teeth. But having a loose as an adult isn't typical. Unfortunately, it always points to an underlying issue. Seeing your dentist as soon as you notice symptoms can help you save a loose tooth. Some loose teeth can tighten up again with nonsurgical treatments like dental cleanings and improved oral hygiene at home. In other cases, our office is where you might end up if you need oral surgery to repair or remove the loose tooth, and waiting too long to see a dentist amplifies those chances severely. Waiting may result in more severe complications including pain, swelling and infection. If it has unfortunately come to this point, rest easy that our office will help you every step of the way to get your smile back to where it used to be.
How can you avoid gum recession?
04/08/2026
Gum recession is when your gum tissue pulls away from your teeth and expose the roots underneath. Treatments include antibiotics, antimicrobial mouth rinses and surgery. Gum recession can’t be reversed, but prevention and treatment can help it from getting worse. Gum recession treatment largely depends on what caused the condition. Mild cases of gum recession may be improved with nonsurgical treatments, such as topical antibiotics, dental bonding or orthodontics. In most instances, however, gum recession surgery is needed to fully correct the problem. The Cleveland Clinic recommends to see your dentist if you notice any signs of gum recession. Stay tuned for the next post where we will share more prevention methods.

In May of 2024 the CDC warned that expecting mothers had a higher probability of gum disease due to changes to their diets and to their hormones. In addition, children of mothers who have high levels of untreated cavities or tooth loss are more than 3 times as likely to have cavities. At Copper Basin, we understand the challenges that all mothers experience when it comes to their dental health and of their families. So this week we want to take a deeper dive into family dental health to give all you moms out there an upper hand, and give you some early mother's day gifts.

The winner of last week’s Bite Force Friday is our Easter friend the rabbit, coming in with a bite force at 67 PSI, which is less than half the strength of a human bite. Meanwhile, our little friend the squirrel, delivers a bite at around 35 PSI, about half the rabbit’s bite force and just enough to crack open acorns!
