This week, a cat was diagnosed with a pyometra—a severe uterine infection that can become life-threatening very quickly.

Her owner knew she needed help immediately. She works in the veterinary industry herself and understood the urgency. The challenge wasn't recognizing the emergency. The challenge was finding care she could afford.

She called multiple veterinary practices and was quoted anywhere from $800 to more than $2,000 for surgery. When every hour matters, financial barriers can feel overwhelming.

Then she called Brookview Animal Wellness.

We were able to provide the surgery she needed that same day for $600 total, plus a professional courtesy discount. Most importantly, her cat received the care she needed before the infection became even more dangerous.

This is why we do what we do.

We believe pets deserve access to care.

We believe families shouldn't feel forced to choose between their finances and their pet's life.

We believe in reducing economic euthanasia whenever possible.

We believe veterinary medicine should be accessible, compassionate and transparent.

And we believe that sometimes the most important thing you can do is act early.

If your pet seems sick, don't wait because you're worried about cost.

Call us. Talk to us. Let us help you explore your options together.

Because waiting often makes conditions more serious, more expensive, and more difficult to treat.

Meet this handsome community cat.

Mary brought him to us for TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return). Like so many caretakers, she's doing everything she can for a feral cat who depends on her for food and a little kindness.

During his neuter exam, Mary mentioned he seemed uncomfortable when eating. Unfortunately, she was right. His dental disease was severe. Several teeth are causing him significant pain and need to be removed.

This is where TNR can become complicated.

The dedicated people who trap and care for community cats don't actually own them. They volunteer their time, buy food out of their own pockets, and provide care simply because they believe these cats deserve compassion. But even the most generous caretakers have financial limits.

At the same time, sending this boy back outside with a mouth full of painful, infected teeth doesn't feel right.

He deserves the chance to eat without pain. He deserves comfort. He deserves a little extra help.

If you'd like to support this sweet boy's dental procedure, any contribution—large or small—will make a difference. Together, we can help him return to his outdoor home healthier, happier, and pain-free.

❤️ Because every cat deserves a life without suffering, even if they don't have a family to call their own.

Pyometra is a life-threatening uterine infection that can develop in unspayed female cats — often suddenly and without much warning.

About 1 in 45 intact female cats will develop pyometra in their lifetime, and when it happens, it becomes an emergency. Treatment usually requires immediate surgery, hospitalization, intensive care, and can cost thousands of dollars.

We often hear:
“She doesn’t go outside.”
“We were going to do it later.”
“We didn’t think it could happen to her.”

But the truth is:
The safest, least expensive, and most loving thing you can do is spay your cat before there’s ever a problem.

Spaying prevents pyometra completely.
No emergency surgery.
No suffering.
No heartbreaking decisions.

Don’t wait for an emergency to learn why prevention matters.
