I’m genuinely glad we did it.
And yes—I’ll absolutely do it again.

But it’s not sustainable for us as a regular rhythm of life.

Honestly loved:

The brain stimulating calculations to make it balanced and biologically appropriate

Choosing pristine, top-quality ingredients (some of it raised on our own property)

Knowing my dogs will directly benefit from my efforts

That deep, ancestral pride of being truly self-sufficient

When my husband stepped in to help because he could see I was in over my head.

But then there’s the flip side:

Sourcing 20 different ingredients was above my pay grade

It was wildly time-consuming

The cleanup was… humbling

It basically took over an entire freezer

And it did NOT save money!!

Now it makes me genuinely happy to pay $8/lb for beautifully packaged, protein-forward, thoughtfully sourced food that I trust—and that my dogs thrive on—without burning myself out trying to do everything from scratch.
