So I’m finally ready to review our new sauna and cold plunge. If you know me, you know I don’t take recommendations lightly. I won’t recommend anything I haven’t thoroughly researched and tested. Researching saunas was more complicated than I had anticipated. It’s not just about price and quality but also what shape, heat source, which type is optimal. I feel like the cold plunge is a bit easier. Do you want it to filter the water, hold a specific temperature, even how you want to sit? We like the one we picked because it matches the sauna, you sit up, has a cover and is easy to get in and out of. I’m not going to lie, aesthetics is important to my practice because if I don’t like looking at it, that’s one more reason for me not to enjoy it. We are all different but cold plunges aren’t as complicated. Get one you’ll use. The sauna. We had a very specific reason for buying this. I want Toby and I to live as long as we can as independent as we can. We do a lot to support this. We also want a great quality of life. We wanted a sauna that would reach very high temps, again the aesthetics are important, also wanted it to logistically comfortable because at over 200 degrees fahrenheit, comfort is hard to come by. An electric stove did not work for us. Most of the heat didn’t start until over our heads. It didn’t move the air around and did not provide the temperatures necessary to increase heat shock proteins. For us, the wood stove is perfect. It not only reaches high enough temps, moves the air around, has a better aesthetic, it also increases negative ions which makes it even more beneficial for health. Long story to tell you we love our purchases from Redwood Outdoors and would more than recommend this set up. Not to mention the customer service was very attentive and made sure we were happy.
