20 years ago I sat in a daze trying to figure out if my head was still attached to my body. My car, the one on the left was hit head on going 55mph. So much to be thankful for as I think back to that unfortunate fatal day. To our 10 week old puppy who was in the car thank you for surviving and the years of entertainment. To officer Severson who was first on the scene and part of our church family thank you for your prayers and commitment to serve. To the firefighter who sat in the back of my car holding my head for an hour thank you for putting up with my babble. To the firemen who diligently cut me out of that tangled mess and lifted the engine off my lap - you are the true superheros who serve and sacrifice everyday for those in need. To the ER dr and nurses who put my hip back in place and made the right decisions which have had a life long impact. To my wife who cared for me throughout all the surgeries and years of recovery you are a champion! To my sister in law Jenn who went to take photos of the car and saw the Lord calmly put His hand in front of me in the car and say "I will allow it this far and no more" your prophetic ear and vision has been a gift to me. To the family of the nurse who hit me and didn't survive I'm sure the pain is less all these years later but there is a void that will never go away, my heart still hurts for you.

Our lives are in His hands and each day God guides, protects, leads and loves us. I don't take this for granted as I know His loving kindness on my life even in the midst of terrible tragedy and pain. His goodness and mercies are truly new every morning.

What do you do during mid winter break? Hike on Mt Tahoma (Rainier) with my favorite Hiking partner Toby. Amazing day with an Amazing young man.
