Very important to have your engine sealed up to make maximum HP. I've checked out a few lately and they're all giving up a good bit in ring, piston and cylinder seal area. Using good valves with a good 3 angle valve job doesn't hurt either. Low lift flow is very important on the overhead valve engines.
Air bleeds, etube size is important to get that exhaust gas temp in the 1250 range on gas.
