Every now and then when we’re on duty, someone will pick up our lunch. It’s never expected, but it’s always appreciated more than people probably realize. Those small gestures mean a lot to the men and women out there working.
Yesterday was one of those moments that stuck with me a little differently.
Three of us were eating at Parker’s when one of the guys from the kitchen came out and said, “ your meals are paid for, I appreciate what you do.”
Now, people have bought us meals before and it’s always incredibly kind. But for some reason this one hit differently. Not because I assume anyone else has more or less money than the next person—but seeing someone who is back there working hard in the kitchen, taking their own earned money and choosing to spend it on three officers… that really meant something.
That’s someone who is grinding through their day just like everyone else, and they still chose to show appreciation.
To the young man working in the kitchen at Parker’s yesterday—thank you. Not just for the meal, but for the reminder that kindness and support are still alive in our community.
It didn’t go unnoticed, and it meant more than you probably know.
We appreciate you.

Every morning, I stop in to see my preschool buddies, and honestly, it’s the highlight of my day. I get tiny high-fives, big hugs, and very serious updates and conversations about superheroes, what's on my vest, and they like my beard.
They don’t care that I’m the Chief — they just know I show up. And that means a lot to me. Starting my day with their smiles and laughter is the best part of the day.

Thanks to Chief Inlow for stopping by preschool for Breakfast with a Cop on Tuesday. Our students enjoy having community partners visit with them!
