My Church Georgetown

The fruit of faithfulness—God is adding to the church weekly. These are our newest members who were recognized today in our Sunday night service.

My name is Ashley, and this is my testimony of how God took my mess and turned it into His message.

From a young age, my life was marked by abuse, trauma, and mental health struggles. Before I was even a teenager, I was diagnosed with a mental illness and spent much of my life on and off antidepressants. As I entered my teens and twenties, drugs took over. I felt like I was living a double life—constantly battling the darkness within me while trying to be the woman I knew God created me to be.

Before turning 30, I went to rehab and truly encountered Jesus. He delivered and restored me, and for several years I faithfully followed Him. But eventually, I let my flesh lead me away. Though I never returned to drugs, alcoholism quickly took hold and my life spiraled into chaos. After two DUIs and losing what felt like everything, I hit rock bottom. For the second time in my life, I considered su***de.

Broken, ashamed, and empty, I cried out to Jesus and fully surrendered. He met me with the assurance that He had never left me. I rededicated my life to Him and began searching for a church with biblical teaching and a true church family. After a stranger prayed that I would find the church God had for me, my sister and I visited My Church the very next Sunday night. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with love and fellowship. Through discipleship and community, my faith has grown deeper than ever before.

Today, I have a joy and peace I never thought possible. Jesus broke the chains that once held me captive and set me free. I thank God for never giving up on me, for giving me purpose, and for filling me with His Spirit. If you’re struggling with strongholds, know that you are not alone! You have a mighty Savior that is ready to pull you out of the pit and set you on His firm foundation!
