First off, I’d like to thank all of the supporters and new and old friends who made this campaign such a great experience. From Greenville to Georgetown, Wilmington to Wyoming, Middletown to Millville, we met so many good people along the way who welcomed me with open arms and responded to me so warmly.

While the result is not what we wanted, I firmly believe that the focus we placed on improving education, creating safer and better neighborhoods for all, and growing our economy drew wide support from across our state.

I wish my opponent all the best as she embarks upon this new office and hopes that she can carry out the job in a fair and impartial manner that befits the office of lieutenant governor.

Holding public office means representing all of the people, not just the people who support you, which is a lesson that all public servants must hold fast to every moment of every day. Our job is to help all our constituents and to make things better for the greatest number of people.

For the hundreds of thousands of Delawareans who voted for me, I want to thank you for your votes of support for our principles and our vision for a better Delaware. I appreciate you more than I can say.

I have heard your voices, and I will continue, in any way I can, to be your voice in the public square.
