Summer Wind Farm

The blessings of Mother's Day continue to shine on Summer Wind as today the farm was gifted a special exacta.

Two outstanding mares in the broodmare band -- Irish stakes winner Key To My Heart (Galileo), a daughter of G1 winner A Z Warrior (Bernardini), and multiple graded stakes-placed Dua (Arrogate), from the family of Canadian Broodmare of the Year Rare Opportunity (Danzig Connection) -- foaled c**ts by this morning within about 20 minutes of one another.

Those special deliveries bring a rousing close to Summer Wind's foaling season. And what a foaling season it has been!

The final tally yields 14 fillies and 12 c**ts, with 28 mares checked in foal so far for 2027 as the farm continues to complete matings and count days before finishing preparations for next year's crop.

In looking over the list of 2026 foals, we find three by Not This Time -- and all fillies! as compared to last year's yearling group that included three Not This Time c**ts -- as well as two foals by Into Mischief, one filly and one c**t; one filly foal by Gun Runner; two c**ts by Tapit, including the full brother to , and an even dozen foals by Flightline with 8 c**ts and 4 fillies in that special group.

Other sires of this season's foals include Summer Wind-bred McKinzie, with a pair of fillies; champion Elite Power, with one filly; and Muth, Gunite and Coal Front with one foal each (a c**t, a filly and a filly, respectively).

There is so much still to report in the matings that have been successful to date and the mares already checked in foal, including four covered by Gun Runner and six by Flightline. More on those coming in the future.

For now, we take a deep breath of thanksgiving for all the safe foalings, healthy mares and babies, and, hopefully, the many future winners to come. ❤🥕

Foaling season may be winding down, but the activity at Summer Wind has been fast and furious since the week before the Kentucky Derby. There have been no fewer than 5 foals born since April 27, so we have lots of catching up to do here with introductions as we await the final trio of foals due in 2026.

On this beautiful spring in the midst of the Classic season, there is none more worthy of a special spotlight than this c**t.

Born on May 5 and just 2 days old in this image, the c**t is by undefeated Horse of the Year and World's Best Racehorse -- who won two of North America's most prestigious races at the Classic distance of 1 1/4 miles, the Breeders' Cup Classic and the Pacific Classic, while also capturing the elite Metropolitan Mile and sprinting 6 furlongs in 1:08 & change twice in his only starts at that distance.

The c**t's mother -- who already has been teaching him how to run -- is Holiday Music (Harlan's Holiday), who is a half sister to undefeated Horse of the Year and Triple Crown victor Justify. Her sire is, of course, the sire of Into Mischief, who has led all sires on the continent for seven consecutive years and has also sired three winners of the Kentucky Derby. So much horsepower in the blood of this c**t!

Holiday Music already has produced stakes winner One Man Team (Nyquist), and she has a promising juvenile c**t in training with Bill Mott named Jackpot Rocket (Tapit), as well as a yearling full sister to the newborn c**t.

The future is here -- and it is already giving us goose bumps for all that could be. 🌹
