Cook Performance Horses had a productive and fun show at the Rein for the Roses reining at Lakeside Arena.
COLONELS SPECIAL GUN owned by Karen Bailey and shown by Cutter Cook were first in the Intermediate open and the NRHA open with a HUGE 73.5 on Sunday!
Cutter Cook and DRINKIN MOONSHINE also owned by Karen Bailey, were 1st on Saturday and third on Sunday in the Intermediate Open and NRHA Open levels.
Seth Chunglo and NU LIL GATLIN GUN were 4th in Green 1 (Sunday). Seth also showed his first shootout in the Green Reiner division.
Hannah Rowland and MIF USA pulled two seconds in Green 2 on Saturday and Sunday.
Caden Cook continued his winning streak with TOPSAILS LITTLEPRIZE, earning a 1st in the short stirrup class BOTH days with a consistent 71 score.
METALLIC CASH and Colton Cook were second on Saturday and Sunday in the short Stirrup. This team continues to get stronger each time they show.
Karen Bailey and her trusty mount DARLINS CODY BOY swept all THREE levels of the Rookie on Sunday.
Karen and her new mount, and A WHIZARD DREAM (Also known as Tater Tot🤣) were 2nd Rookie 1, 1st Rookie 2, and 2nd Rookie PT.
Karen and her beautiful buckskin, DRINKIN MOONSHINE were 3rd in Rookie PT and Rookie 2 and also 4th in Rookie 1. On Sunday they continued their winning ways with a 4th in Rookie PT, 4th Rookie 2, and 2nd in Rookie level 1.
Laura Brown and LOTTA MOBSTER got in the placings on Saturday with a 4th in Rookie PT.
Elizabeth Chunglo “cowgirl’d up” despite not feeling well and showed SMART IN A DRESS in the Novice and got in some good schooling runs.
Our proudest run was Miss Cassie Cook who made her very first trip to the show pen on DONT TINKER WITH ME in the walk trot. Not only did Cassie stay on pattern but she had the loudest cheering session of the show!
A huge thank you to Ryan Behne Horseshoeing and Dr Ashley Embly with Rood and Riddle for keeping our horses sound and healthy.
Thank you to Bruce Brown of Lakeside Arena and the Kentucky Reining Horse Association for hosting the show and the hospitality.
A special shout out to the person who keeps us organized and on track with 12 head of horses. Sam Brown, we couldn’t do this without you! Words can’t express what you mean to the entire team.

Hands down we have the best barn family! Last weekend at Kentucky Reining Horse Associations Bourbon Slide our team showed up. Birthday girl Elizabeth Paris Chunglo had great runs all weekend. A few penalties kept her out of the money, but she had solid rides all weekend in Rookie and Novice Horse. Macy and Peaches did great in Youth and Green classes. Jenny Chapman-Tolbert and Chevy had nice runs in Rookie! Both pairs continue to improve with each show.
New to our barn family, both Alize Naud and Hannah Rowland have been working hard in lessons. Their hard work paid off on Sunday as they tied to win Green 1. Cary Roy also had a few solid runs in Green this weekend.
Cutter and Darlins Cody Boy were in the money all weekend in the open slates. Cutter and Colonel Special Guns tied for the win on Sunday to close the show. Last, but certainly not least Caden and Sammy showed for the first time in short stirrup. The duo did great winning their first class together. They will definitely be back in the show pen soon!

We are home from the Clayton Classic Reining and despite the oppressive heat and intermittent rain storms, our horses and team had a great show bringing home points, prizes, and over $3,600 in cash payouts. Our team highlight was a big win in the maturity on Saturday where Cutter piloted Karen Bailey’s beloved Darlins Cody Boy to the double level win with a score of 145.5!
