Illustration, BUG COLON CANCER, transcribed from Nona Freeman’s book, MIRACLES: Excerpt EVERYTHING’S GONNA BE ALL RIGHT, circa, 1970’s.
Since this is Father’s Day 2026, week we will be posting Bug Freeman’s experiences and miracles.
Nona Freeman wrote, my darling Bug came home from furlough a very sick man. He suffered terrible pain but he wanted to trust God with his problem. When he literally passed out from the pain, I called the doctor friend who recognized the urgency of his condition and made an appointment with a specialist. This doctor said Bug had a cancerous growth over four inches long in the a**l tract. It had already turned gangrenous; and should have treatment long ago.
He proposed drastic surgery; which consisted of removal of over fourteen inches of his colon, etc., that he hoped would prolong his life by maybe two years. The surgery coincided with the day the tent would come down in Highlands. I came by the hospital with our tent loaded on the trailer, found him conscious and pale but in good spirits. It surprised me because the doctor had said they would keep him sedated for up to two weeks. ‘Do you have pain,” I asked?
I left the hospital praying and when I arrived home I got home to a ringing telephone and it was a call from the specialist. He said, ‘Mrs. Freeman, the man upstairs has taken care of your husband. Whenever we got in there, that growth that had been four inches long two days ago, looked like an out of season plum that had dried up on the tree. I simply cut it off, took two stitches and your husband can come home this afternoon.
My Bug was never bothered by this again,’ praise Jesus. Nona Freeman

Illustration, BUGS IMMUNITY FROM MALARIA. transcribed from Nona Freeman’s book, BUGS BEGINNING: Excerpt from EVERYTHING’S GONNA BE ALL RIGHT, circa 1970’s.
Since this is Father’s Day 2026, week we will be posting Bug Freeman’s experiences and miracles.
Nona Freeman wrote, after Bugs twelfth birthday he got malaria. His mother wanted to call her pastor in to pray for him. When he had four violent chills he took some medicine called ‘Three Sixes’. It would not stay down. He was so sick they called all the family in.
When Bug looked up and saw all his family around his bed and realized they did not expect him to live, he told his mother, ‘Please call that preacher to come pray for me.’
The man of God came, raised a fervent prayer to heaven and instantly miracles came to Bug.
Not only did God heal him, but he gave him a lifetime immunity to malaria that lasted as long as he lived.
He traveled to places in Africa later, where violent strains of the disease affected everyone that lived, or even visited there, but in forty one years of traveling up and down Africa, malaria never touched my Bug Freeman again. Nona Freeman

Illustration, BELIEVE NOTHING YOU HEAR, transcribed from Nona Freeman’s message, circa 1980’s.
Nona Freeman preached, when we first arrived in Africa someone shared this little story with Bug and he loved it. Anything to do with animals, he loved, and always lived by, ‘believe nothing you hear, and half you see.’
A man took his dog along on a safari. The pooch got lost and a leopard saw him, and intending to eat the mutt for lunch. The dog noticed bones on the ground and begins to chew on them with his back intentionally to the leopard. As the leopard is about to leap the dog says loudly, "This is the tastiest leopard I’ve ever ate; I wonder if there are any more around here?" Hearing this the leopard hides, and said, "Wow, that dog almost ate me!"
Meanwhile the monkey hears the dog, and leopard conniving, and traded this information for protection to the leopard. The dog hears them and sees the duo approaching him, and knew the leopard is furious for being made a fool of, and thinks, "What am I going to do now?"
So instead of running the dog pretends not to be aware of their presence. When they get close enough to hear him he says aloud, "Now where's that lazy monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard!"
When you think you are defeated, never give up or give in. Never let the enemy see you sweat. Jesus is always there. The safest place in all the world is in the will of God.
When your back is to the wall throw up your hands and say, "Jesus!" Nona Freeman

Illustration, A PRAYER WARRIORS HEART, transcribed from Nona Freeman testimony, and Excerpt from Nona Freeman’s ‘Everything’s Gonna Be All Right’, MIRACLES, circa 1950’s.
Nona Freeman preached, in 1948, Marla, my six month old baby had whooping cough along with her two sisters, ages two and five years old on the cargo boat going to Africa. As a farther complication Marla developed pneumonia. She became so sick that the boat captain said, ‘We’ll bury this one at sea.’ How in Jesus name can I bury my baby at all, not to mention at sea?
I had three sick children, and I was really overwhelmed especially with my sick infant. The heart of this mother began to reach out to Jesus. I begin to travail in prayer for Jesus to lay us on the hearts of prayer warriors back home.
When we returned home on furlough, I was told by some friends. Unknowingly to us at the time, while we were on that cargo ship headed to the land of our calling, a good friends mother felt a burden for us back in America. She said, ‘we must pray for the Freeman’s now, and they prayed and touched heaven for us.
The ship’s captain had made arrangements to have a doctor when we got into port in case Marla might need to be quarantined. The doctor who had been summoned to meet the boat examined her ten days after the dire prediction from the captain. He said, ‘I can’t believe this child has even been sick; much less had pneumonia.’
UPDATE by Nona Freeman: After Bug and I retired from foreign missions, I was in a service preaching, and felt to share this miracle.
A minister; Rev James McFall who was an anointed songwriter that penned such beautiful songs as, ‘Thank God I’m Free’ and ‘I Still Trust You Lord,’ was in the congregation as I was sharing this story. I was told a few years later that after I shared this testimony that God gave him the words to this beautiful song; ‘A Prayer Warrior‘s Heart’.
A PRAYER WARRIOR'S HEART
-James McFall
I've fought the good fight of faith
In the Lord's service for a long time
I've walked through deep valleys-
There's been high mountains I've had to climb
I've helped the wayfaring stranger,
Tried to be a light in this world that's so dark
But now that it seems that I've lost my way
Lord, lay me on some prayer warriors heart.
Lord, lay me on some prayer warriors heart
And lead them to an altar to pray for me
In the heat of the battle I've just grown weary
And Lord you know just what I need
Tell them there's a soldier of yours that is wounded
And his soul is being torn apart
Through the prayers of the saints I'll find the strength
If you'll lay me on some prayer warriors heart.
Thru the prayers of the saints, I'll find the strength
If you'll lay me on some prayer warriors heart. Oh my sweet Jesus, how does anyone make it with out prayer? Nona Freeman
