Not the updates you were expecting, but let's get real for a moment. I am not okay.

I’m not going to lie, 2025 has been hard. After my brain surgery in 2022, I went into overdrive because doctors told me I probably had less than ten years before becoming quadriplegic, if not worse. I've been making it, but this year brought wave after wave of challenges: losses in our family, health setbacks, vehicle issues, and even a water leak under our slab. My health has been unpredictable, and I’ve begun losing function in my right arm.

Professionally, I had hope to build Twisted Consulting and our nonprofit, Automotive Service Assistance (ASA), into teams that could stand strong when my health declined. Some things are growing slowly and others are much faster than expected.

ASA’s waitlist is longer than ever. Auto repair costs are rising fast, and many people who could support the mission don’t realize how life falls apart without a working vehicle. Transportation isn’t a luxury, it’s stability. While I have a supportive accountability board, I’m still the one handling all of the operations alone.

Twisted Consulting has continued to thrive, but growth requires networking the way I used to; events, trainings, in-person opportunities. And the reality is, my body can’t handle that pace anymore. Fatigue, pain, and a fragile immune system mean I have to be selective. So for now, we’re focused on delivering excellent work for our current clients, supporting our contractors, and growing through word of mouth. We commit only to what we can deliver with full reliability.

I share all of this because many people have asked what’s been going on behind the scenes. If I’ve ever seemed “fine” online while things were falling apart offline, it wasn’t intentional. Remember, my biggest goal in life is to put more positivity than negativity into the world. And sometimes it is a daily fight not to let the negative win.

That being said, here are 3 ways you can help someone this holiday season.

1. Giving Tuesday is in two days
Automotive Service Assistance (ASA): providing sliding-scale funding for auto repairs.

Santa’s Heroes: offering sensory-friendly, inclusive Santa experiences for individuals with special needs.

2. Twisted Consulting has limited space for 2026. My amazing team only has 4 project openings and 3 hourly contract spots left. If you know a small business or nonprofit in need of operations support, business advisement, technology optimization, or AI implementation, I would greatly appreciate the introduction. My goal is to fill up my team's schedule so they can have the best year yet!

3. And lastly, support each other. Everyone is carrying something. If you’d like, comment what you’re hoping for this holiday season, or in the new year.

I'm not okay right now, but every storm runs out of rain.

Bless and be blessed,
❤️ Kayla Williams

Today I had the honor of speaking at 1 Million Cups Columbia, SC, sharing my talk titled “My Time is Limited, but My Life is Not.”

I opened up about surviving two brain surgeries, navigating life with a terminal diagnosis, and how those experiences reshaped the way I show up in life, in leadership, and in business.

I shared the heart behind Automotive Service Assistance (ASA) and the strategy behind Twisted Consulting, two very different ventures with one common goal: helping people move forward.

It wasn’t just a presentation. It was a reminder that purpose doesn’t wait for perfect timing.
Grateful for everyone who showed up, asked thoughtful questions, and held space for this story.

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas were finally told they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Today, we celebrate freedom, resilience, and Black culture.

Happy Juneteenth!

Reliable transportation shouldn’t be a luxury.

For families in crisis, one unexpected car repair can mean missed meals, missed work, or worse.
At ASA, we step in where others can’t.

Help us keep wheels turning and lives on track.
