Gary Indiana Republican Party

🇺🇸 What a day for the Gary Republican Party and our Lake County candidates! 🇺🇸
Today we proudly participated in the Independence Day Parade, celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary and showing that Republicans are alive, active, and growing in Gary and throughout Lake County.
A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated candy, decorated the float, walked the route, waved flags, and helped represent our values to the community. Special thanks to our candidates and supporters who braved the heat and spent the day engaging with residents and celebrating our nation’s independence.
From our patriotic parade trailer to Sheriff candidate David Crane’s impressive parade vehicle, we were impossible to miss! Most importantly, we had the opportunity to meet families, hand out candy, and remind people that a better future for Gary and Lake County is possible when citizens get involved.
The Gary Republican Party has accomplished great things when we come together, and today’s strong showing is another example of what teamwork can accomplish.
🇺🇸 God Bless America

I’ve seen this poster tossed around quite a bit in a rhetorical based effort.
That being said, the meme is largely accurate. The 1956 Republican platform under President Dwight Eisenhower supported Social Security, infrastructure investment, collective bargaining rights, and assistance for refugees. Republicans of that era believed in a limited but active federal role in certain areas.
The real question isn’t what Republicans believed in 1956. It’s what challenges America faces in 2026.
Today’s Republican Party generally argues that decades of expanding federal programs have produced unsustainable debt, bureaucracy, and dependency. Modern Republicans tend to favor economic growth, local control, secure borders, energy independence, and private-sector solutions over expanding federal programs.
Political parties evolve. The Democratic Party of 1956 isn’t the Democratic Party of today either.
History is interesting, but voters have to decide which ideas solve today’s problems, not yesterday’s.

Today was a tremendous success for the Gary Republican Party’s Community Cookout!
We were honored to welcome Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales, Munster Town Councilman Jonathan Petersen, and Hammond Republican Chairwoman Kathleen Hilton as they joined us in Gary for an afternoon of fellowship, food, and community engagement.
Most importantly, we want to thank every resident, volunteer, sponsor, candidate, and supporter who came out to spend time with their neighbors and learn more about the future of our city and county.
Events like this remind us that building a stronger community starts with bringing people together. We had great conversations, made new connections, and continued the work of growing a stronger Republican presence throughout Gary and Northwest Indiana.
Thank you to everyone who helped make today’s event possible. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
Chairman Will Miller,
