State Disaster Relief Fund Assistance is Available

Eligible Hoosiers impacted by the severe weather, flooding, tornado activity, and derecho that occurred June 9–18, 2026 may now qualify for financial assistance through the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), following Governor Mike Braun’s emergency disaster declaration for 63 Indiana counties.

As our community continues to recover, some floodwaters may remain in low-lying areas. After significant rainfall, it takes time for excess water to move through the watershed, drain naturally, and be absorbed into the ground before water levels return to normal. Even though the Gary Sanitation District does not control the water level of the Little Calumet River, we appreciate your patience as conditions continue to improve.
