Congratulations to our friend and collaborator Brent Leggs on his appointment this month as President and CEO of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

In our shared efforts to preserve places like the Anne Spencer House and Garden Museum in Virginia, Leggs has been a powerful voice on what preservation can be, and why it matters.

In our newest film “Earth, I Thank You: The Garden and Legacy of Anne Spencer,” Leggs speaks to the value of recognizing places like this one, where the Harlem Renaissance poet took refuge and gathered with fellow artists and advocates for civil rights. He highlights the importance of continuing to fill gaps in historic preservation. (Watch the film at https://www.gardenconservancy.org/spencer)

The Garden Conservancy looks forward to a new season of collaboration with the National Trust, and we extend our best wishes to Brent Leggs in his new leadership role.
