I fell in love with public service within my first few months working for Johnson County Government.
Admittedly, I had no idea what county government did before the County Manager’s Office hired me to manage social media content, strategy, and policy. I loved having the opportunity to communicate the services that were available to residents and learned so much about what it does and doesnt look like for tax dollars to create value.
I knew I had found a sweet spot of service for me. So, I decided to go back to school. I earned my Masters of Public Affairs from the University of Missouri. I loved my courses that taught me how to develop public/private partnerships, the importance of local control, how to plan economic development, and right way to use tax incentives to guarantee good jobs.
Before I finished the program, Johnson County Mental Health Center recruited me to lead their community relations. In this role I began writing legislative platforms and public policy white papers related to state legislation.
I continued with the county through the pandemic before becoming Executive Director of an economic development non-profit and then starting as an entrepreneur.
This is why this campaign is personal for me - I love our community and want it to flourish. That’s why I want to leverage my education and experience for the good of Kansans.

BREAKING: If you buy fewer pencils ✏️ , you’ll be able to buy a house. 🏠
Come on! Really?
There’s a rule in business: Cutting costs helps extend your runway but growing revenue is the only way to sustain your bottom line.
We need better jobs. We need a tax policy that works for our families. We need legislation that makes buying a house possible.
This is why I’m running!
We had some special guests 🎅🏼 help light the Mayor’s Christmas Tree 🎄 tonight!

Tell me your experience trying to find a job in Gardner. Did you have any luck?
I know I looked for jobs in town many times, but I couldn’t ever find one that paid enough for me to afford my bills. Before I became an entrepreneur, I always had to work in other parts of the metro.
We need better paying jobs in town. This is what I’m working on in my businesses and it’s what I’d work on in Topeka, too!
