Winter Maintenance tips for your property

Winterize your Hose Bibs: Please follow the instructions listed below so that the pipes do not freeze due to extreme cold weather. It’s time to turn off the water to the outside hose bibs to prevent pipe breaks due to freezing water!

FOLLOW THESE STEPS: To prevent pipe breaks due to freezing temperatures, please follow the simple steps to winterize both of your hose bibs:

1. Close valve inside. Typically, the valve is located in the water heater section or sometimes under the kitchen sink.
2. Remove garden hose, if necessary.
3. Open the front and back hose bib, let all the water drain out and leave them open.

Winter-proof the exterior

If you feel your landscaping can be on back burner now than think twice as you’re not done with yard work yet.

1. Prevent damages from icy conditions by trimming trees and shrubs so they don’t brush up against the walls and windows.
2. Regularly inspect your roof for the formation of ice dams, which can damage your roof and cause water leakage. At the same time inspect your window wells as well and make sure the liner is not loose from the foundation.
3. Close any crawlspace vents in the foundation, and seal any cracks or small openings so small critters can’t burrow in.
4. Seal leaky windows and doors.
