We want to provide an update regarding our earlier reporting on the earlier incident at early voting at Bohrer Park involving Delegate Acevero.
After publishing, additional information and differing accounts of what occurred were brought to our attention. While multiple witnesses described the incident one way, the other individuals involved have provided substantially different accounts and have disputed key aspects of those allegations.
In our effort to report the story quickly before covering another event, we should have taken more time to gather and include additional perspectives before publication. For that, we apologize.
At this stage, the facts remain contested, and both sides have indicated they may pursue legal action. We are continuing to investigate, speak with those involved, and review any available evidence.
As always, our goal is to report the facts as accurately and fairly as possible. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Edit 2: Acevero has put out a press release claiming he was attacked first and defended himself and is pressing charges. Link to press release in comments
Edit: conflicting sources are now claiming that Acevero was attacked and was defending himself. We’ll have more as it comes in
