Yesterday was my keynote address in Orlando for the University of Florida Institute for Food and Agricultural Sciences Extention. It was during the annual training for the amazing group of people who educate S.N.A.P. recipients all throughout the state of Florida, teaching them about the many areas of good nutrition. What an incredible experience, ya'll. I am so lucky to have been able to spend time with these heroes. They give so much of themselves to help their clients understand that cooking healthy food is within their reach. They work long hours, late nights and drive long distances to be able to reach as many people as possible. I was nervous giving my speech to them, telling my story of how I began cooking and the role that food plays in our family. Believe it or not, giving that speech ended up being so much fun. I laughed a lot. The audience laughed a lot. What a great experience.
