SF Spring Arts Festival

The Spring Arts Festival is so excited to celebrate an incredible student mural at the SF Academy of Science and Technology! This project was led by local artist .hornerart , founder of Mindfull Messages, her nonprofit mural movement dedicated to spreading positivity, collaboration, and student voice in schools.

Jenna worked closely with Santa Fe College students to propose, design, and execute this mural, while continuing her broader work collaborating with Alachua County students at Eastside High School to create a meaningful, student-driven mural in their own school.

Born in Tampa, Florida, Curtis Whitwam has spent his life immersed in the natural ecosystems of wild Florida. 

His artwork is mission driven as a way to inspire you to see the beauty of the natural spaces that surround us and be moved to protect them.  

Artistically, natural patterns are his focus. The shape of the roots,  the branches of the trees, schools of fish, or swirls on the waters’ surface anchor a moment. This feeling of presence is expressed in his artwork through a painting technique he uses to execute the layers of color and value that create the resonance of a place or experience. 

Throughout his career, he has expressed his creations through many mediums, watercolor being his current favorite. Curtis’ artwork has been recognized with awards from the Florida and American Watercolor Society as well as many awards at premier Fine Art Festivals including a Best in Show Award at the 2025 Santa Fe College Fine Art Festival.
