Thank you so much to all of our volunteers who came out on 5/17 to our Adopt-A-Street event! We were able to clean out the drainage ditch and collect five bags of trash and one bag of recyclables!

Keep your eye out for our next Adopt-A-Street event, the weekend of July 11-12!

Every little bit counts in keeping our city cleaner!

As National Volunteer Week comes to a close, we want to share how incredibly grateful we are to our fantastic volunteers and the positive impact they make for their neighbors and the planet!

With only 3 full time and 1 part time staff persons, the CWC relies heavily on our generous volunteers to reach so many homes each year. In 2025, 237 households were reached with our in-home, DIY and upgrade programs, reaching over 550 residents.

125 individuals gave their time generously last year, donating 3,000.4 hours. With an estimated value of $34.79 per volunteer hour used nationally, they donated $104,383.92 in time toward the CWC's mission!

Additionally, with the 214 in-home tune-ups that occurred last year, it is estimated that our volunteers helped to conserve 1.3 million gallons of fresh water, 354,598 kilowatt hours of energy, and save their neighbors over $54,570 in utility expenses.

We can't say thank you enough to these awesome people, who allow us to effectively build community and reach so many of our vulnerable and utility-burdened neighbors - YOU make our work possible!

For rental property owners looking to improve properties while limiting capital investment, ACEEP provides a structured path to meaningful upgrades that preserve long-term value.

From new appliances and windows to insulation and HVAC systems, Rebuilding Together North Central Florida and Community Weatherization Coalition manage the entire process. Estimates, contractor coordination and payment, and final verification are handled on owners’ behalf, reducing administrative burden while delivering documented upgrades.

Selina Williams, an owner of four local rental properties, enrolled those units and found that ACEEP helped fulfill her “desire to provide tenants with a safe, beautiful, energy efficient home and environment.” She also noted that “utility bills are lower,” contributing to higher tenant satisfaction and reduced turnover. One of her rentals, pictured here, received subfloor insulation, new windows, a washer and dryer, a refrigerator, a toilet, duct sealing, weatherstripping, and a smart thermostat.

Rental property owners wanting to save on upgrades and maintenance costs, enrolling in the Alachua County Energy Efficiency Program (ACEEP) is a strategic investment!
