🍷📖 “A STROLL DOWNTOWN” 🦮🚶‍♂️

I love visiting downtown areas on Sunday afternoons. Seeing friends and families walking about, looking into the windows of restaurants to see what people are eating, eye shopping at a plant or used book store. It feels like everything in the world will be okay.

Mix in some Jack Johnson, a pint of IPA, sunlight filtered through trees, and brick building with that old town charm. The vibes can’t be beat! 😎

This painting is an attempt to capture that feeling

🪴🪴 “VERDANT MEMORY” 🪴🪴

There’s a lot of green in my home, and that’s why I generally gravitate towards green/earth tones for my paintings.

To my joy, a client also mentioned that his home had a lot of green and wanted a painting to fit his space! Came up with the concept fairly quickly and got straight to work! 🖼️

Always trying to incorporate something new in each painting so I decided to go with a more intricate mosaic pattern with a simple background. These tiles are arranged diagonally instead of the typical grid look, with small white flowers speckled throughout. Happy with the end result, and motivated to experiment more with unique mosaic tiling patterns :)

2nd photo is the vibe I’m trying to capture 📸

When blue skies touch golden fields that roll on and on into the horizon. Flowers sway with a slight kiss of the sun 🌞

Just the underpainting but already liking the color scheme! Always try to get my palette from nature.

⚜️💠 COURTYARD FRAGMENTS 💠⚜️

Seems to have a new look in different kinds of lighting ☀️

Might be hard to notice at first, but this one is different from my usual paintings. I typically have mosaic tiling patterns as the foreground with imagery or textures as the background.

But for this piece I wanted to try having mosaic tiling as the background - to give it the “revealed” look.

If your wondering how I get pictures with my painting in various interior spaces, you should look into 🖼️

On a mission to finish this piece within 2 weeks. Been in the zone - keep forgetting to record the process 🤦🏻‍♂️

I promise you it’s me making it so here’s some proof lol

🏵️🏵️ “BY THE RIVER” 🏵️🏵️

Background populated with papyrus plants and herons - both commonly found near ancient Nile Delta landscape 🌅

Signature image is of the Egyptian god, Thoth. Deity of wisdom, writing, and creator of hieroglyphs!

Mosaic color scheme has hints of teal/blue to represent the color palette of the Nile 🌀

Painting is 24 x 36 inches. Made with stucco, acrylic, and charcoal.

The Heron was often depicted in Egyptian tomb paintings, and associated with the sun-god Ra, or representing the souls of the creator.

The papyrus plant is no longer common in the Nile region today.

Isn’t history fascinating?!

🏆🏆 “TIMES OF PEACE” 🏆 🏆

Official post for the recently finished painting! Already on its way to the new owner! 🚚

Booking it to the art store to get some more canvases for new paintings! This one was on the small side - 24 x 24 inches. So for the next couple I plan to go big again!

I’ll come up with the concept design after I see what dimensions are available at the store 🤔
But in terms of color scheme, I might go dark! Like a dark muddy brown and green…maybe!

before and after 1st layer of mosaic tiling ✍️

Purpose of the first layer is to establish the pattern. Second layer is to increase the height of the mosaic tiles. Third layer is to introduce color variation to really sell the look.

I’ve been working with stucco for some time but I’m now contemplating on using a different material for the tiles. Something more glossy so it actually looks like tiles. Would be quite beautiful if there was a glimmer effect when light hits it at an angle. Hmmm.. going to have to experiment a bit 🔬

🌱🌱 “HANDS THAT SOW” 🌱🌱

A painting I made to accompany “LATE BLOOMERS” piece - one in red, the other in green. Too early for Christmas?

I’ve been focusing a bit on plants and as I get more and more comfortable I plan to increase the canvas size. This one sits at 48 x 24 inches but I’m going to go bigger on the next ones.

The experimental paintings where I’m still figuring out the best way to deal with people and animals are made in smaller demsnions. That is until I get comfortable with them too.

Then eventually maybe there will be plants, people, and animals all in one painting! Make it a true fresco looking mural that tells a story :D

But until then, enjoy the flowers 🌷🌷🌷🌷

The way I decide if I like a dish is by two factors:

1. TASTE 👅
2. TEXTURE! ☝️
*** I don’t care how it looks at all

But the criteria in which I analyze a painting is….
1. VISUAL APPEAL 👀
2. TEXTURES! ☝️
*** taste is not a factor in artworks, and I DO NOT recommend tasting
