Bill Gates confirms plans to give away nearly all his wealth by 2045.

In a recent update from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates announced that he will donate the majority of his remaining fortune - roughly $51 billion - as part of his long-term plan to fully spend down the foundation’s resources by 2045. The move is not tied to financial losses, but to his stated goal of using his wealth to address issues like global health, poverty, and education.

Gates said this next chapter allows the foundation to accelerate its work “while I’m still around to see the impact.” He has urged other wealthy individuals to take similar steps in tackling global challenges, though he emphasized that philanthropy alone can’t replace strong public institutions and government action.

According to Forbes and the Gates Foundation, this continues his earlier pledge to donate 99 percent of his wealth over his lifetime.
