If your hips are stiff, your low back is angry, and your glutes feel like they've forgotten how to work — this one is for you.

The 90/90 stretch is one of the most effective hip mobility exercises we have. Both knees at 90 degrees, one in front and one behind, working both internal and external hip rotation at the same time.

Most people only ever stretch one direction. This hits both — which is why it works when everything else hasn't.

Here's what it helps:

Tight hip flexors. Stiff piriformis. Low back pain that keeps coming back. Poor hip rotation that throws off your whole movement pattern. Sciatica symptoms that flare up when you sit too long.

Dr. Meghan uses this as part of corrective exercise programming for patients dealing with hip and low back dysfunction because it doesn't just stretch the tissue — it starts to rewire how your hip moves.

Sit tall. Stack your shins. Hold 60-90 seconds each side. If one side is significantly tighter than the other — that's information. Pay attention to it.

And if this stretch feels impossible or painful, don't push through it. Come in. Something else is going on and we need to look at it.

Robert has disc herniations from L2 all the way to S1 — with neuropathy running down the front of his left thigh.
