Terra Site Constructors recently completed a design-build post and panel wall for Megamart in Gaithersburg MD, marking an entry for Terra into the hypermarket retail space. The project was completed safely as well as within budget and schedule by TSC crews!

Terra Site Constructors, LLC (Terra) has completed the upgrades of the Fort Sumter (FOSU) pier on behalf of the National Park Service (NPS). The year-long effort was a collaboration between Terra and the NPS to enable better public accessibility for a historic and national treasure. The construction at the pier continued during the peak summer period with arrangements to sequester pedestrian and ferry traffic. This project was a source of pride for the Terra team as it galvanized a sense of common history, national purpose and public duty. The historic restoration of the pier provided a perfect backdrop for combining modern machinery and techniques with the traditional yet staid construction of the historic fort.

NPS envisioned upgrades involved replacing rotted pilings and decking with driving 30” steel piling and fendering the pilings for ferries. The scope of the project also included installing new handrails, electrical rewiring, new lighting along the pier walkway, cast in place concrete and sealing expansion joints. Given the marine environment, barges were used for supplying materials and crane stationing. The project was delivered on time and on budget to the NPS through the dedication of Terra’s field team as well as collaborative effort with the NPS on project planning and hands on management.

Temporary guardrails, visible signage and constant vigilance by the Terra and NPS teams kept visitors safe and separated from the construction. Safety is an important value at Terra and is front and center for all aspects of Federal projects. Terra continues to implement new initiatives and technology to lower our EMR and build a sustainable culture centered around health and safety.

Terra teamed with local subcontractors, Cape Romaine, Feyen Zylstra and Terracon, as well as the stewardship of the NPS team, was able to deliver the project on schedule and on budget, despite accommodating changes in field and design conditions. Terra is proud to support the efforts of the NPS at Fort Sumter. We look forward to our continued partnership with the NPS and supporting the restoration and recapitalization of our national treasures for future generations.

Terra Site Constructors has successfully completed the construction of MSE walls and precast coping as a subcontractor for Shirley Contracting Company, LLC at the Amazon Warehouse Facility in Richmond, VA. MSE walls at the Amazon Richmond facility provided a robust, value engineered and time sensitive solution for building a raised access road for the trucks. Terra’s part of this project consisted of constructing five MSE walls, including top treatments, totaling more than 25,000 sf. Terra delivered the work to Shirley Contracting in February of 2022 on an expedited schedule to meet the needs of the project while maintaining its safety and quality standards.

Terra Site Constructors has installed over 1MM SF of MSE walls over the last 10 years. Shirley Contracting LLC, one of the oldest and largest infrastructure companies in the country, is also a Mentor for Terra Site Constructors under the SBA’s Mentor-Protégé Program.

Terra Site Constructors just completed the GSA planned repairs for the Suitland Parking Garages A, B & C that service the offices of the US Census Bureau. The project required concrete removal and repair in the three garages encompassing expansion joint edge repair as well as replacement of the header curb. Terra self-performed XX% of the workscope. Under the leadership of the GSA, Terra was able to phase the project in a manner that did not disrupt the parking needs of GSA’s customer, US Census Bureau, while ensuring the safety of patrons and employees. Terra’s EMR dropped to 0.92 in 2021 and we continue to implement new initiatives and technology to lower our EMR and build a sustainable culture centered around health and safety.
