Now, at 61 years of age, I look back at Jim Rohn comment. "Work harder on yourself than you do on your job."
I left the entertainment industry to jump into the kickboxing training business but then got into corporate. Yep, I'd just left the fitness industry to chase a sales career in finance.
I did what most ambitious people do.
Late nights, early mornings, sacrificed sleep. skipped meals or ate bad foods, drank, and pushed through exhaustion like it was a badge of honor.
✔️My sales numbers went up.
✔️My health went down.
My energy tanked along with my mind. I was winning at work and losing at life and developed health issues.
Then my sales leader in the business died. Young. Too young.
I realized my priorities were completely backwards. Success at the cost of my health wasn't success at all. It was slow motion self-destruction.
Since then, even when I get very busy as a consultant and coach, I find time to do some type of activity. It's because I made a decision that no job, career or status overrides my mental and physical health.
Because here's the truth.
✔️Your body will break if you ignore it long enough.
✔️Your relationships will crumble if you're not doing your own internal work.
I focus on how my body feels Vs. how it looks so, I am not trying to show you how to get washboard abs. Why? Because, as a behavioral and business coach I have found that the outside shell can be beautiful, but if the inside is a mess, the outside will feel incomplete.

This morning, my Inner Circle Zoom call had some NLP training
I asked...are you thinking for yourself or just repeating patterns someone else programmed into you? Thanks to recent news, I was able to get them to share opinions.
Whether it's a politician selling fear, media selling outrage, or your own mind selling limitation, if you're not aware of the game being played, you're the one being played.
We discussed the mechanisms politicians use to manipulate voters are the ones we use to manipulate ourselves. We talked about custom-made protest signs, paid protesters, and the power of emotional storytelling.
✔️ Neuro-Linguistic Programing (NLP) teaches that people don't respond to reality, they respond to their map of reality. Politicians and media know this. They're selling emotional anchors and stories that fit existing belief systems.
When a story triggers an emotional response, your brain releases chemicals that reinforce neural pathways already established. You're not thinking critically, you're confirming what you already believe. This is how propaganda works. This is also how self-sabotage works.

You're about to set goals, tell yourself, "I'm gonna..." and then, something happens.
After a month or so into the New Year, many people wake up thinking something is fundamentally wrong with them. Too slow. Not disciplined enough. Always one step behind.
Every "natural fix" you scroll past on social media (reverse gray hair, get shredded in 30 days, make 10K in 3 days) quietly trains your subconscious to compare your life process with someone else's highlight reel. When you don't get the same result, your brain tags YOU as the problem, not the process.
This is why motivational videos feel good for an hour but do not stick. The subconscious is not interested in your happiness, inspiration, or vision board; it is interested in keeping the current identity and environment intact because that is what has proven “non-fatal” so far.
💡 The Fix...Learning NLP/Behavioral Science.
Everything shifted after Jim Rohn took some time with me. He directed me into mind science. I dove deep into NLP, behavioral science, neuroscience, and metaphysics after years of self sabotage.
Suddenly, my unworthiness wasn't a character flaw, it was just my subconscious doing exactly what it's designed to do: protect me by keeping things "safe" and familiar, even when it's uncomfortable, underpaid, or unfulfilling. I began to see the connection between ALL spiritual teachings and science.
It's your Spirit, Mind, & Body.
For starters:
Your Reticular Activating System (RAS) = Body
Filters millions of bits of data every second but, your conscious can only retain 40 bits per second. It only shows you what matches your current beliefs and identity = Spirit & Mind.
So even when you say you want more, you begin the journey. Example; You start going to the gym= Body. Your subconscious keeps proving that your current life is the right size for you. This isn't a character flaw. It's a neutral mechanism. = Spirit & Mind
The shift begins when you stop shaming yourself and start retraining the system.
You redefine what's "safe" by pivoting and changing your daily focus, language, environment, and micro-actions.
This isn't a 3-step overnight hack. Nothing of real value ever is.
Before the second month of the year hits, draw this line in the sand: stop trying to fix you and start retraining the system you're running.
Work harder on yourself than you do on your job.
