He found a $15,000 game-worn 1953 Cubs jacket at Goodwill 👀

In late 2023, high school senior Jack Ricketts found a vintage 1953 Chicago Cubs jacket at Goodwill for just $8.70.

Inside were clear rookie-season clues: “1953,” the number 14, and vintage Wilson tagging, all consistent with a team-issued piece for Ernie “Mr. Cub” Banks.

Grey Flannel Auctions authenticated the jacket, matching it to Banks’ debut year through era photographs and construction details.

When it went to auction, the Goodwill bin find sold for $15,569, nearly 1,800 times what Ricketts paid, turning a thrift-store score into a piece of baseball history.
