NEW COVID-19 Special Enrollment Period starts February 1

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and President Biden’s recent executive order, Covered California announced a new Special Enrollment Period (SEP) that allows uninsured individuals to apply for health coverage between February 1 and May 15 without documentation.

This new SEP applies to on-exchange and off-exchange medical plans, as well as on-exchange dental plans. As a reminder, off-exchange dental and vision products can be purchased at any time during the year.

To be eligible for this new SEP, you must be a California resident. Coverage effective dates will be the first of the month following the application submission. For example, an application submitted on February 20 will be effective March 1.
