1. Find a photograph or an object that belonged to them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Find a nice space in your home to build your altar. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. Light a candle. To guide them back into the light so they can go in peace.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. Have water. To calm their thirst and to cleanse their soul.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
5. Leave some food out for them, ideally their favorite food.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
6. Dress up your altar with flowers. If you can find flor de cempasúchil or marigold in English, that would be great.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
7. Dress your altar with candy or sugar skulls to sweeten their journey.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
8. Add seeds or dirt to the floor to honor the earth and the land we're standing on.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
9. Add papel picado (you can DIY it). It represents the duality between life and death. You get bonus points if your papel picado is orange and purple.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
10. My favorite, Pan de Muerto (bread of the dead? that's the literal translation) which represents the cycle of life by its round shape, and it is adorned by four long pieces at the top representing the four cardinal directions.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We did it! 🙌🏽 We hosted the first virtual Café de Olla masterclass! The masterclass was a thank you to those who supported us during our presales. We collectively enjoyed a sip of café de olla; it was great! Our founder shared the story behind Las Adelitas Roasted Coffee and what café de olla means to her. Others shared their memories of this fantastic traditional drink and what it reminds them of. We heard some incredible and hilarious memories! We also shared what we are working on next! Should we have another masterclass café de olla? ☕️

¡Feliz Dia de las Madres! Mexican Moms celebrate Mother’s Day twice!
Some of you received handwritten notes from the La Mera Jefa! She also assisted with packaging your coffee bags. Mi Madre has been an example of fortitude and resilience. She told me recently told she found a note I had written when I was younger stating, “A mi no me gusta limpiar, no me gusta que nadie me diga que hacer (I don’t like to clean, and I don’t people telling me what do to).” We laughed uncontrollably!
