You know what I think is super cool? Helping kids build a strong foundation of fine motor skills BEFORE we ever hand them a pencil.โœ๏ธ

This quote from my friend Amanda Morgan is one of my favorites.๐Ÿ‘†

So many parents feel rushed to get their little ones writing and working on their handwriting. They get worried theyโ€™ll fall behind.

I invite you to ๐Ÿ›‘ stop and look at the big picture.

Writing and holding a pencil are just a small piece of your childโ€™s development. When we jump too quickly to writing, we can set kids up for failure and actually do the opposite of what weโ€™re trying to do!

Set kids up for success in life (not just for school) by helping them build a strong fine motor skills foundation.

These skills will help them with really important independent and self help skills (buttoning, zipping, opening, twisting, etc) as well as more academic skills (writing, drawing, etc).

Hands on play and fine motor skills activities are crucial for building strong finger and hands and helping kids learn how to control these muscles in their bodies.

Kids can build these skills at the park, climbing trees, playing with playdough, squishing kinetic sand, ripping leaves and more!

Do you have a favorite way that you like to build fine motor skills? Iโ€™d love to hear about it! ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿผ Iโ€™ll be sharing some of our favorites in stories today.

Tag a friend who could use this reminder! If your child is struggling with their writing stamina, go back to the basics and do some simple and fun fine motor play activities and make sure their foundation is strong.
