June Awareness & Heritage Month
Transitioning into June, the official National Mental Health Awareness Month in May has concluded, but the mental health conversation shifts to PTSD Awareness Month, Men’s Health Month, and Pride Month and Juneteenth. The focus continues on maintaining community support, nervous system regulation, and accessible mental healthcare.
June is a profoundly intersectional month. Connecting the themes of mental health awareness and Juneteenth means recognizing that mental wellness is deeply intertwined with cultural resilience, generational healing, and the ongoing fight for equity.
The Intersections of Freedom and Mental Health
• A Time for Healing: Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, but it is also an opportunity to acknowledge the multigenerational trauma of slavery and systemic racism. Recognizing this history validates the unique mental health challenges faced by the Black community.
• Mental Wellness as Resistance: True freedom extends beyond legal rights to emotional and mental well-being. Prioritizing rest, joy, and culturally competent healing is a revolutionary act of self-care.
• Actionable Support: Dismantling structural barriers in healthcare and actively listening to Black voices are crucial steps to promoting mental health equity.
This year’s theme — More Good Days, Together — encourages us all to reflect on what a “good” day looks like, both for ourselves, and for our communities. Together, we can use that insight to connect people to the right support at the right time, and shape advocacy, education, and community engagement to make more good days possible for all. Come join us at the Holistic Wellness Program for any of the Free classes and Workshops that are offered, throughout the month.

We would like to thank everyone who attended our May Complementary Healers Workshop in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month with a focus on Native American culture. This workshop featured our guest speaker and drummer Tino Rayos along with guest drummer Abdullahtif Bell Tounkara.
Thank you both for sharing your cultural knowledge, history, and insights on mental health within Native American communities. We truly appreciate the meaningful conversations and experiences shared during this workshop.
