We have some exciting news to share! Alameda County Library has been selected as one of eight public libraries nationwide for a program that connects public libraries with local news organizations.
Selected libraries will learn and share solutions to help people:
• Build trust in local information
• Ensure community voices are included in local stories
• Encourage open public conversations
The program is led by More Perfect and the Urban Libraries Council.

Why is Juneteenth important? In 1865, General Gordon Granger went to Galveston, Texas, with an important message. He announced that enslaved Black people were finally free.
Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States. It also reminds us of the long fight for freedom and equality.
