Here are a few before and after pictures of a bathroom I did in Bethesda a few years ago. The pics were taken before the glass was installed for the shower. Also you'll notice there is only one faucet. This was around the pandemic and the faucets were severely delayed. The one in the picture was provided by Kohler so the clients would be able to use the bathroom. From time to time I get requests to do some custom work. I've had a few clients ask for vanities that don't exist or don't meet the measurements or their needs so I built them. I filled a room with bookshelves for a book collector who worked in media. One of my favorites to build was a wall mount drawer unit. The client wanted progressively larger drawers with a mahogany crotch (the V pattern) veneer finish. Here are a few pics of a project that I enjoyed working on. The kitchen had a pantry and the client wanted the door to blend in with the kitchen cabinets. I trimmed the wall and a new door slab to mimic the cabinets and added matching handles. Since the kids never shut the door, I added spring loaded hinges. The final touch was added by the electrician. We had a jamb switch installed on the hinge side of the door so the lights would turn on when the door was opened and off when closed. I would like to stress the importance of using a licensed and insured contractor. Last week I looked at a basement to submit a proposal that another "contractor" was hired to do. The client gave a significant deposit, several 2 x 4s were dropped off and they never came back to do the job. This was an unlicensed person that was found on Facebook and now the police and the States Attorney are involved. Unfortunately there is no guarantee they will get their money back. You can check on licenses at Maryland's DLLR site. Also, do your research and get referrals. There are plenty of reputable licensed contractors to choose from. I'm including some pictures of a basement I finished in Middletown. I personally did all of the work except the plumbing, electric and carpet. For the project I use in my profile pic, my client approached me wanting to modernize his kitchen. He had basic contractor grade white cabinets and wanted his island to stand out. He gave me several pictures from magazines for inspiration and we bounced ideas back and forth for a few weeks. After giving him a concept drawing, I made a mock up of the glass top using plywood and 3" PVC pipe. When he approved of the design, I gave the plywood to my glass vendor to use as a template and hired a local welder to fabricate the brushed stainless steel posts. I wrapped the island with pre-finished Brazilian cherry flooring and finished the corners off with brushed stainless steel. At a later date, we changed out the cabinet door and drawer fronts. This is a bathroom I created working with Terri Lemere of Healthy Home Living Solutions, LLC. The client had a small bathroom and her laundry facilities were in the basement. She wanted a solution that would allow her to age in place so we converted a bedroom into a full bathroom complete with a washer and dryer hookup. The toilet has a bidet, we placed a handheld shower next to a large bench and installed a linear drain that is flush to the floor to eliminate trip hazards and allow for easy access in the future should wheeled access be necessary.
