I had a productive meeting with the Senior Services Advisory Board today to share key priorities for Frederick County’s growing senior population, including transportation services with Transit Services of Frederick County and nonprofits, our Senior Tax Credit and Service Coordination for Seniors Program, upcoming senior center construction and renovation projects, and opportunities for senior-ready housing on county-owned land. We also recognized the incredible work and dedication of Mary Ann Foltz and Sally Livingston to the Board! I appreciated the Board’s thoughtful recommendations and insights as we continue working to expand access to services, strengthen infrastructure, and ensure older adults can remain active, connected, and supported in Frederick County.

Although rain forced the postponement of the original date, the sun was shining today at Asia on the Creek, put on thanks to the Asian American Center of Frederick! It was a wonderful afternoon filled with cultural performances, family-friendly activities, and even a spirited watermelon-eating contest, all celebrating the traditions, talents, and stories that enrich Frederick County. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day such a success!

While there, I was proud to proclaim May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in Frederick County. We honor the generations of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders whose resilience, leadership, labor, and contributions have helped shape our nation and continue to strengthen our local community. Their diverse cultures, perspectives, and achievements are an integral part of what makes Frederick County thrive as we build an inclusive community where everyone is valued and empowered to succeed.
