Kindred Nutrition
Yes abnormal labs can be concerning AND there’s more to the story. If a provider tells you to remove something from your diet without asking you what a day looks like they aren’t doing the correct work.
I have people who are referred to me often for a high or borderline HgB A1C who aren’t eating enough, especially carbs.
As I said in the video if you aren’t fueling properly stress with trigger the release of glucose which will cause spikes and can increase your average. HgB A1C can also be increased with dehydration or iron deficiencies.
We need to dig into the whole story and understand your nutrition and exercise. From there we make changes and then repeat in 3 months.
Do you need a thorough review of labs and health? We’d love to help. Follow us for more or call/text 301-580-0008.
This one really irks me. First it’s the lack of emotional intelligence and how mis or early diagnosing can scare the living s**t out of people.
Second it’s how many times people will get misinformation such as you need to lose weight or you need to decrease this and that.
If you receive abnormal labs there should be a plan, a more current follow up than a year and ALSO a referral to a specialist. I’ve had docs push back on me and say “insurance won’t cover the recheck.” Have the conversation with the patient. Many would gladly pay the fee. I can order a comprehensive metabolic panel for my patients for under $4.00.
Dietitians are a great resource for lab review and assessment. They can then collaborate and discuss with your physician.

Join me tomorrow when a new podcast drops! I loved talking to Sarah Schlichter where we discussed and most importantly normalizing families experiences with food while giving “permission” to make it easy. Follow if you don’t already. Links will be shared tomorrow!
