Some times the best we can do is protect exposures… strong work HFD for recognizing that fact.

WORKING INCIDENT

Units are currently operating at an EV fire on Wesel Blvd in the area of Martins Grocery Store. Units are protecting exposures and allowing the vehicle to burn due to the batteries being in thermal runaway. Please avoid the area!

Firefighter Michael Powers, 70
Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department. Libertytown, MD
Firefighter Powers responded and arrived at the scene of a serious automobile accident on Rt. 26 in Frederick County and was helping clear debris when he suffered a medical emergency.
Other firefighters on the scene immediately began to assist Powers. He was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:21 p.m. Powers had been a volunteer firefighter in Frederick County for more than 50 years, including his nearly four decades as a volunteer at Libertytown.

Week 1 of MOTO training is off! The topic; Search Ropes. FCFR is replacing our current 20+ year old search bags with the FDNY style search bag. Prior to the new bags getting placed on the apparatus, members from top to bottom will get the opportunity to get hands on experience and exposure with them.

Trust the science 🧪

Members working with to conduct research on hose and nozzle packages and their effects at height. This information is being used to aid in the development of an AAR for a recent local fire that resulted in a member being burned.

The work these guys do is quite fascinating and has a tremendous impact on the job that we do!
