Congratulations to Advisory Board Member and Past Chair, Meredith Roark, who was honored today as a 2025 Distinguished Fundraising Volunteer by AFP Western Maryland.

Over several years, Meredith has used her relationships, expertise, and advocacy to bring new supporters to our mission and deepen understanding of the weekend hunger gap for children. Her leadership has helped ensure more students in Frederick County receive the weekend food they need to learn and grow.

We are grateful for her dedication and thrilled to see her recognized for her exceptional service. ❤️🎒

🎒 Moving, Shaking, and Making a Difference!

Serving nearly 3,000 students in 31 schools every Friday means there’s always a lot of movement at our office and throughout Frederick County, and we couldn’t do it without helping hands like these!

A huge thank-you to the incredible teams from Atlantic Union Bank, Premier Inc., and The HealthWell Foundation for spending a workday with us organizing food, prepping supplies, and keeping the energy high as we work to provide hunger-free weekends for local kids.

Millions of families are bracing for the impact of paused SNAP funding, and the need for weekend food support is expected to rise.

At Blessings in a Backpack, our mission remains clear and unwavering: to provide hunger-free weekends for children who might otherwise go hungry. With the help of our volunteers, donors, and partners, we’ll continue to show up for kids — today and long into the future.

Together, we’ll remain focused on delivering weekend nutrition in a safe and accessible way for families around the country.

💛 Love & Company = Love in Action!

Last Friday, their team packed 500 weekend food bags to help kids across Frederick County have hunger-free weekends. Big thanks to this amazing group for turning teamwork into impact!
