50 years ago today the first product barcode scan was performed in a grocery store using an optical scanner. Today's optical scanning possibilities have far surpassed reading the lines on the back of a chewing gum package. The applications available through scanners, detectors, and sensors have opened scientific optics to a world of advances. Note, for instance, the compact beam scanner noted in recent research out of Montana State University using Meadowlark's wire grid polarizers. Take a look at this advancement and its potential uses: https://buff.ly/3VqYDMn
