One more from my battlefield series. Field artillery in the 1860’s was made to be mobile and inflict untold damage to those in its way. I know little about civil war era cannons but I do know they inflicted a lot of pain and suffering. I would assume this particular cannon is not original to that era. If I’m wrong let me know .

Shooting at different times of day creates completely different moods.

This serene scene was much harsher than it looks. Zero degrees with negative wind chill, made this one a challenge. Learning to shoot in cold environments takes planning, patience and lots of wool! Captured by

Last week Mike Busada-Mike B Photography and I spent a couple days fishing on the Salmon River just a stones throw south of Lake Ontario. This shot looks like sand dunes but that is snow and ice piled up at the edge of the lake. Seriously surreal experience when you look out at a sea of ice. This shot was taken just before dark. It was about 10 degrees and the wind was howling. We were parked about 20 steps away. Sometimes you really don’t need to venture too far from warmth to get a cool shot. Tell us what think. If you have a cool snow or ice picture please share in the comments!
