A room can be cozy and functional, no matter the size. Sometimes you need to find creative solutions to work with the room you have. Here are my 3 tips for creating a beautiful and functional bedroom when working with a smaller space.

1. Determine your specific storage needs before buying furniture or a closet organization system. When every inch of space counts, going through this exercise will help you to figure out the types of things that require storage and makes it easier to find solutions that will truly work for you.

2. Invest in a quality bed frame and bedding, with details that you love. The bed is the focal point of the room and the frame or bedding that you choose can really elevate the look of the space. And the details - whether it's the fabric on the headboard or the pattern on the duvet cover - those things can add more depth and interest to the design of the space.

3. Create a cozy atmosphere that you will enjoy going to at the end of the day. You could bring in soft layers like knit throw blankets, listen to calming music or sounds, and diffuse essential oils.
