Tool Tuesday! A mini ratchet wrench set is a useful tool that most inspectors carry. Although removing panels is not required it is often necessary for a great inspection.

Fix it Friday! Do not overload circuits like this! This is a fire waiting to happen! If you need to plug in multiple devices, use a surge protector and make sure you do not exceed the maximum amperage rating for the surge protector and the outlet.

Fix it Friday! Crawl spaces are moisture collection points already, if you have appliances in the crawl space make sure your hoses are connected to the drain and not allowing water to flow into the surrounding dirt.

This device is not found in every home inspectors tool kit (although it should be!) but it provides further insight into energy efficiency and potential overheating of wires that could lead to fires. Ask your home inspector if they use a FLIR camera!
