Friends of Lancaster is a local non-profit charity in Fort Worth that goes out once a month to pass out food and clothing donations to the homeless on East Lancaster Street. This is an amazing grass-roots organization that is helping people on the front lines every single month.
Fort Behavioral is honored to be apart of this monthly service work event. This event is open to anyone and everyone who has a heart to serve the community. The more the merrier. You're not required to bring any donations, you're willingness to serve is a great way to help.
Anyone that's able to donate items here's the items below that they need help collecting:
- Food Items: 150 Snacks (your choice).
- Travel Size: Lotion (out), Shaving cream (out), Wipes, Hand Sanitizer (out).
- Adult Size: Used Men or Women Shoes, New Men or Women Underwear, Socks.
- All Kinds: Blankets, Pillows, Coats, Hoodies, Gloves, Scarves, Bags, Suitcases, Tarps, or Tents
"We typically do not do clothing. However, if you have items that you personally want to take out there than you are more than welcome. We just do not have the capacity to store the clothing. See you all on Friday, November 17th, 2023!!!" - Friends of Lancaster, Non-Profit

π From Darkness to Light: Chad battled a 10-year fight with op**te addiction. For a decade he lived life in active addiction admitting to rehab after rehab. In 2016 Chad finally won his battle against addiction, he chose a different path. Now Chad embraces a different kind of lifestyle. One free from addiction, filled with spending quality time with his family, outdoor adventures, gaming with his son, but most importantly helping people in their own journey into sobriety. His transformation is a testament to the power of recovery. π
Chad's most remarkable accomplishment post-sobriety is the restoration of trust and relationships with his children and wife, and getting the opportunity to work in the treatment industry.

β¨Meet Kim Griffin, a beacon of hope and strength during National Recovery Month! β¨
During Kimβs battle with addiction and alcoholism, she faced the shadows of liver failure, seizures, and unhealthy relationships. Her life teetered on the brink of despair, with numerous hospital visits and detoxes. At the end of her drinking and using career she was surrounded by consequences, but within her darkest moments, a spark of resilience ignited.
π Kim's biggest triumph is her transformed life. She's embraced a healthy body, a wholesome lifestyle, and most importantly, rebuilt precious family bonds. π
Kim's journey led her to FORT, where she now works passionately to help others on their path to recovery. She witnesses the incredible transformation clients undergo in just 30 days of dedicated effort.
Advice from Kim: To anyone struggling with addiction, she says, "Don't give up before the miracle happens. Don't give up on yourself. Do it for You!". ππ
