Welp. Didn’t see this one coming. 😉
I’ve been in conversation for some time now with Emmanuel Awine, a PhD candidate in history at Johns Hopkins University, about his ambitious vision to create a museum in West Africa dedicated to sharing the narratives of enslaved people from inland points of origin. I’ll have a role on the board so I’ve been looking forward to sharing more on this in the coming months . :-)
In the meantime, I’m incredibly excited to contribute to deepening our understanding of the North American descendant experience and what our collective memories can mean for healing, acknowledgment, and development. As a multigenerational Black Texan, I am grateful to be given a platform to speak about our ancestors and their stories.
The link is in my bio. Can’t wait to see this come together. ✨
I’ve been eating savory oatmeal for years. I started making it this way because I’ve never really been a fan of oatmeal until I started looking at it like rice or risotto. I added seasonings and chicken bouillon in my water and then simmered before adding a pat of butter. Had some okra and tomatoes I needed to cook asap. Perfect breakfast this morning.
