๐Ÿ’œ New Microgreen Variety - Purple Kohlrabi! ๐Ÿ’œ

This tray here is growing for Saturday at Alachua County Farmers' Market, and I love the.way it's coming up so far. ๐Ÿ˜

Purple Kohlrabi has a mild flavor and deep dark stems, similar to that Purple Cabbage or other Brassicas. It's also packed full of Vitamin C, A & K, as well as essential minerals and antioxidants.

Come sample some this weekend while it lasts! ๐ŸŒฑ

So I'm no doctor, and this is not medical advice. But I've been meaning to make this post for a long time, because it's huge info for some folks and needs to be shared.

I had a customer tell me a while back that she had Colitis and couldn't eat any leafy greens. As in, her doctor told her not to but also she literally couldn't consume them without pain and problems.

Ok that's not the huge part that's just the backstory. The huge part is that she is MY customer, then and now still, and I sell leafy greens. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

She told me that the microgreens do NOT bother her. Not a lick. Their young and tender nature makes them much easier to digest, and they actually are often well tolerated by folks with Crohn's and Colitis. In fact, the high presence of anti-oxidants, polyphenols and glucosinolate can actually help REDUCE oxidative stress and relieve gut inflammation! Meaning they are not just tolerated, they are helping. โค๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ

I had no idea until she told me. Y'all this lady can now eat greens again when she hadn't for so long! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Her excitement really made my heart burst. Still does.

Anyway if this is you too, check with your doctor and make your own medical choices because I am just a farmer. But maybe also try some microgreens and see how you do. You may be able to bring greens back into your life, too. ๐Ÿ’š
