Wrote a quick note on hitting 1k followers on Instagram recently and thought it would be appropriate to share here as well!

Two things can be true. It’s ok to celebrate a win while also understanding its fleeting significance.

Gaining followers for numbers sake has never been the goal. Let’s be honest, 1K is not a lot. It’s just a number. And some days, no matter what the follower count is, “the algo” seems to only show content to my mom and three other people. 😂 At the same time, it’s amazing to see that more than a couple of people find value in the niche service this small business provides.

At the end of the day, Lusso Detail is an old fashioned small business in a modern day world. The content you see here will always be authentic. Not generated by AI. Not designed solely in hopes to go viral. Real sweet rides from real clients and written content from the heart. Followers are never bought but rather earned through building relationships. Slowing down to serve people the right way has been the recipe for success for almost ten years now.

It’s been a VERY long time since I’ve done a personal intro and figured now would be a good time to do so!

If we haven’t met already, my name is James and I’m the face behind Lusso Detail. Midwest born and raised but Fort Wayne has been my home for over 20 years. I truly love being part of this special community.

Current obsessions include trying NA drinks, puzzles, and knocking the winter rust off my very mid golf swing.

Lusso Detail started in 2016 out of a passion for cars and a desire to serve others well. Still cannot believe TEN years of small business ownership is coming up later this year. By the way, I’m loving the current 2016 photo trend because it coincides with the time this business started. Both fun and gratifying to look back then vs. now.

What you need to know is this small business would not be possible without my wife (aka Lady Lusso). We met at a church group around 15 years ago and were always good friends but never really thought about dating. Funny how the best things tend to come when you least expect it. I truly could not ask for a better best friend and business partner.

Two things I’m IN on this year
- Slowing down. While there are many joys to entrepreneurship, it can be an absolute grind. Jam packed schedules are great for hitting business goals, but can easily lead to burnout and not serving others with my best. Here’s to more long walks with Mrs. Lusso, taking time off, and tee times.
- Using my voice to benefit others. I have a bad habit of not speaking up because my words don’t always come out the best. If you ever feel this way, know that your words matter and are powerful. Use them for good!

Two things I’m OUT on this year
- Worrying about “the algo.” Post the good stuff no matter what the social platforms decide to aggregate.
- Maybe coffee? Love a good latte but my body decides to implode after having one most days. All ears for any alternatives.
