Esther Foellinger, who passed away this month in 1969, appreciated the opportunities that she, her daughters Helene and Loretta, and husband Oscar shared: the opportunity to have strong family relationships, to learn and to lead, to work hard at things they enjoyed doing, to earn a good living and to give back to their community. Their philosophy of "helping people help themselves" and "helping one another" was shaped by their experiences and by the philanthropic traditions of their era.
