Tiffany Whitner, Vice President Community Business Lending Officer (NMLS #: 1153897) with First Merchants Bank, believes in moving mountains for her clients. So, when a local small business needed capital to support a new expansion but was denied a line of credit, Tiffany put on her detective’s cap.

“This business had been a client of mine for many years, and I knew how important this growth was to the business owner and to his employees – so when I heard that he was denied I was devastated,” Tiffany said.

Since she’d worked closely with the business for many years and was familiar with their operations and cash flow, Tiffany felt that something wasn’t quite right. She put in a request for a case review and pulled together an all-star team to meet with the client and go over the documents again.

“During that meeting, we noticed that an error had been made on the client’s business taxes and that the business had just signed a contract that would double their revenue,” Tiffany explained.

With this information, the client was able to secure the line of credit needed to help his business flourish.

“I was so pleased to be able to help out a client that is so passionate and dedicated about making a difference in his community,” Tiffany shared. “It really goes to show the impact First Merchants’ relationship- and people-first approach can have. We were able to help this client because we’d built that relationship and because we genuinely cared about helping him prosper.”
