TechWorks FAQ: "Do I need prior experience to attend a virtual bootcamp?" πŸ’»

The short answer? Not necessarily! We design our tech bootcamps to meet you right where you are.

Here is how it breaks down:

No Tech Experience? No Problem! πŸš€ Our foundational bootcampsβ€”such as TechWorks, Build-IT, and CodeWorksβ€”are designed for beginners and do not require prior IT experience.

Ready for the Next Level? πŸ” Advanced programs like SecurityWorks and NetWorks do require a deeper, more technical skillset to help you master specialized fields.

We look closely at every candidate's qualifications to find the perfect program fit for your goals and background.

When Malik Johnston first saw a flyer for the Learning and Development Initiative (LDI) at NJIT, he just hoped to secure a laptop. He never could have predicted it would lead to a history-making milestone: a perfect score on the CompTIA Tech+ examβ€”an achievement untouched for over 11 years!

Malik’s journey from the "Digital Lite" basics to mastering AI Literacy and Tech+ is a testament to his hard work and a masterclass in collaboration. As Malik puts it, β€œAchieving this score was a team effort. Every single person involved played a direct part in my success.”

We are grateful to the individuals and organizations who helped build that bridge to success:

- Symone Smith (Program Operations Manager) for seamless day-to-day organization.

- Kortny Holland (Learning Success Manager) for guiding him into his next phase with profound confidence.

- Beth St. Clair (Career Coach) for being a wise, calming, and deeply supportive guiding force.

- Anijae Felton (IT Instructor) for going the extra mile in tutoring to ensure he truly mastered the technical heavy lifting.

- Information Systems Department, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)

Congratulations, Malik! We can’t wait to see where your tech career takes you next.

Huge congratulations are in order for the amazing Urban Technology Project (UTP) apprentices who just wrapped up our NetWorks course, led by the incredible Anijae Felton!

To say they knocked it out of the park is an understatement. The performance from this cohort was absolutely astounding: 6 out of 7 apprentices earned their CompTIA Network+ certification!

Earning a Network+ credential takes serious grit, dedication, and late-night studying. We are incredibly proud of these students for putting in the work to level up their IT careers and bridge the digital divide.

Shana Savage, Executive Director of I.T. Apprenticeships at Urban Technology Project, put it perfectly:

"Anijae Felton is a miracle worker, and you are a dream team πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½ Congratulations!!"

A massive thank you to Anijae for the world-class coaching, and to UTP for being such a phenomenal partner in workforce development.

The future of IT is bright! πŸš€βœ¨
